My mom, who passed away 2 years ago, was diabetic, so I have some experience, but it's a daunting task. Everyone reacts differently, so there's no one diet. Learning to take his readings and adjusting the insulin will be major. I'm hoping that if he loses the 20 pounds the doctor has mandated that he can stop the insulin.
